Samolus repens Creeping Brookweed

A small herb from the coastal saltmarsh. The creeping stems grow to 20cm high. Leaves at the bottom of the stem are larger than those further up the stem. Each stem carries a single white flower with five petals. The flowers are about 10mm across.

Flowering: Spring to summer, but a few flowers at other times

Habitat: Saltmarsh and mangrove swamps.
Distribution: Along the coast from northern NSW down to South Australia, and Tasmania.
