Platylobium formosum ssp. formosum - Handsome flat-pea

Diagnosis: Straggly shrub to 1 m. with thin, wiry stems. Leaves opposite, dark green, ovate to heart-shaped and roughly veined. Flowers fairly large with a red centre, borne singly or in small groups from the leaf axils.

Flowering: Spring

Habitat: in sheltered forest, gullies, and other moist places with little light

Distribution: Widespread from coast to mountains. In New South Wales north coast, south coast, southern tablelands, southwestern slopes. Also in Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania.
