Family Epacridaceae Epacris longiflora - Fuchsia Heath
A very common straggly shrub, with sessile, heart-shaped leaves with a pungent point. Flowers are about 2.5 cm long, tubular and bright red with white ends. Flowering: Late winter to Spring. Habitat: sheltered rock ledges and hillsides, often in places where direct sunlight never reaches, on sandy soils, needs an underground water supply. Distribution: in Sydney widespread from coast to mountains. Along the coast and tablelands to Queensland
